Browse the vast library of free Altium design content including components, templates and reference designs. Mark the components used frequently as Favorites, then they are easy to find. Take advantage of the keyboard shortcuts, which will save lots of time when creating a schematic. Custom components are easy to make in ExpressPCB. I am currently trying to work with ExpressPCB but the component library is so limited, I am trying to add the transformer from the RenSS boards Mouser# 838-3FS-312 Manufacturer# 3FS-312 but it is not in the list.

I'm trying to create a PCB design for my application, i've seen that there are many layout editors, but in your opinion which is the best software, which one has the best performance for this kind of application? i've also have used the layout editor called Eagle. but would likke to explore another one.
Thank you for your time.

Express Pcb Component Library

If you're already using Eagle then my recommendation is to stick with it. It's the best I've used so far in terms of price (free for 1 or 2 layer PCBs below a certain size), features, flexibility and component libraries. In my opinion, the user interface is fairly unintuitive and difficult to learn but okay once you get used to it.
Express PCB is a really easy-to-use free editor for simple projects. The library is a bit limited but very simple to create your own components. The major drawback is that it doesn't export layouts to Gerber format because they really want you to get your PCBs made through them.
I've used DesignSpark for one project. It's better for more complicated projects than Express PCB, but I found the online-only component library system to be very unreliable (i.e. frequently not being able to connect) and the component pad sizes were a bit small.
Perhaps if you elaborate on what features you need for your specific project?

This repository is the first step of the construction of the ProckNation ExpressPCB Component Library. Once I have finished cleaning and organizing the files I will move the repository to the ProckNation GitHub site so that it can be managed by others and not just me.
Recent Updates
- 03-25-2015 : Added PCBComponents_Custom-Directory_Listing.txt, SchComponents_Custom-Directory_Listing.txt files to the repository. These files are just the names of all the files in the named directories which is also the names of the components as seen in the ExpressPCB program. Since there is no way to search in the custom components group in ExpressPCB I put all the names in these files then put them into a two sheet Excel file. One sheet for schematic components and another sheet for PCB components.
When looking for a component it is much easier to just open the Excel sheet and search for the part there. I also locked the cells, sheets, and workbook so while searching for parts, I don't accidentally delete some of the part names or anything.
ExpressPCB Component Licensing
For My Components
The MIT license posted in the main repository directory applies to all the parts and components that I have created. You are free to use them for any purpose, just try to give credit in the documentation of your project.
For Other Components I Found and Imported Over the Years
For the other files that I have imported the MIT license does not apply. Most of them did not specify any type of use restriction so use them at your own discretion.
Future Plans for the Component Library
- In the near future I plan on digging through all the files and separating them into groups to better categorize them.
- I will also label them better so the source and/or author of the file will be more obvious.
- Once I have finished organizing the components I will move the library (repository) to the ProckNation GitHub site. ProckNation GitHub site
